❄️ Snow Emergencies & Winter Road Safety
in Green Township
When winter weather brings snow and ice, Green Township’s Department of Public Services works hard to keep roads safe and passable. Our crews take great pride in providing timely and efficient service, but severe conditions—and vehicles parked along roadways—can make snow removal challenging.
🚨 Snow Emergency Declarations
When conditions warrant, Green Township officials may
declare a Snow Emergency to ensure our plow crews can clear the roads effectively.
During a Snow Emergency:
- All vehicles must be removed from streets maintained by Green Township.
- These are generally residential streets with curbs and no painted center lines (with a few exceptions).
We understand that moving vehicles can be inconvenient—especially for residents with limited driveway space—but public safety must come first. Snow Emergencies are declared only when necessary and, whenever possible, during daytime hours to allow residents time to respond.
Notices will be shared through local television, radio, and weather alert systems, just like school closings.
🚗 Parking & Enforcement
When a Snow Emergency is declared, please move your vehicle
as soon as possible.
If you have extra space in your driveway, consider offering it to a neighbor who needs it.
Vehicles left on the street after the declared time may be ticketed and towed so plow crews can safely and efficiently clear the roads.
🛞 Why It Matters
Snow and ice create hazardous driving conditions and can delay emergency response times for police, fire, and paramedic services. Green Township uses the Snow Emergency system sparingly and responsibly, with one goal in mind — protecting public safety.
