The Green Township Fire Department sponsors a Fire Explorer program for youths.  The program, open to young men and women ages 14 to 18, allows participants to learn and experience many aspects of fire and emergency medical professions.  Under the direct supervision of experienced Fire Department personnel, young adults with an interest in fire service careers learn about fire, heavy rescue, first aid, and other aspects of our operation.  They can also participate in competitions against other Explorer posts to show off their skills.

Several members of our department began in the Fire Explorer program.  Upon reaching their 18th birthday, most Explorers have enough experience to make a rapid and smooth transition into a part-time position as a firefighter.  From there, they have the opportunity to compete for full-time positions.
